0 comments | Log in to comment! | Share this!Oh hey newgrounders, as some of you know, I have been working on a flash platformer game for a while now and have decided to make a little intro animation, i'm doing this because I feel that I don't
have enough inspiration to really go through with it, so I'm making an animation to see what you guys think of my idea.
Keep in mind it will be a semi-decent animation mainly giving you the background info and a little more detail on the actual game play, keep in mind that i do have school to keep up with, so it will take me a little while.
If i work on it in my free time. I should have it done in at least a week, i'll be working on it a lot this weekend. The reason that i do this is because i want to see if it'll be really worth making it, or if people will play it briefly followed by a big 'ole BLAMFACTOR! so anyways feel free to comment and check out my little typed out details, i'll give updates when i find them necessary

Currently i'm contemplating whether to just use jumping on the heads of enemies to kill them... OR to add a swinging of Paul's cane. Yes, i named him. His name is Paul.

probably going to make a new profile image too. i'll keep posted on my game. Having some trouble with the sprinting, it goes to the frame i tell it to, but it doesn't let the movie clip play unless i release the left or right key. If you think you can help, please either comment this or send me a pm.
working on the main engine atm, i'll have it done probably by the end of this week if i really push it. but i'm going to try and take it slow and put in as much detail as possible.
Updated: 07/01/08 6:25 PM 0 comments | Log in to comment! | Share this!ok, so it's the same background story but now there's some differences... since i have changed the attacking system from you shooting them to you jumping on them and killing them, there will no longer be the kill numbers, but now, instead of the kill numbers, there will be more difficulties in the way. the harder the enemy is, the taller they will be... or something to that effect, i am not sure on the details yet. Just trying to get the creative juices flowing...

OK, So here's the base of my game.
It's like most other platformers, a basic attacking system using the classic shooting system. There's a basic health bar, and when the bar runs out, then you die. Pretty simple, I know. But it is my first game.
You start out as a man known as Ted in the world well known as Happy Land in Ted's imagination. Yes, that's right, Ted's Imagination. Yes, Ted is indeed insane. And the entire game takes place inside the world of Happy Land. As Ted, you collect Pies of different flavors to regain health and get points. You will work your way through the game avoiding various traps and tricks until you reach the end of your world. and there will be a choice that will effect your ending. (do i have you interested yet?)
Pies:
Pumpkin
Regenerates 5 health
Blueberry
Regenerates 10 health
Cherry
Regenerates 15 health
(My favorite) Apple
Regenerates 20 health
The enemies are psychiatrists, they are revealed to you in later levels, but you don't need to worry about them in the first few. They will try their hardest to catch you and bring you back to sanity. In the world of Happy Land, when you die, Ted goes sane again, but only momentarily. (also known as replaying levels after death)
In later levels, the game will have time, and you will have to kill enemies and collect their special stopwatches to get more time. There are three types of stopwatches, each coming from a different enemy.
Therapist
30 seconds
Hypnotist
60 seconds
Asylum guard
90 seconds
Enemy details:
Therapist an easy, one-hit-kill character. With his easiness to kill comes his speed and low stopwatch time. He does a low 10 damage
Hypnotist a more difficult, two-hit character, he deals medium damage, and due to the fact that he is more dangerous, and more difficult, you get a decent stopwatch time from him. He does a medium 15 damage.
Asylum guard basically, the big 'ole mean guys of the game, with a four-hit-kill requirement, he is like a tank but, this enemy moves slower than most others, and gives you some of a chance to survive (don't worry, you don't encounter many of these.) He does a whopping 20 damage.
Damage: All damage is caused once every three seconds.
So that is the base of my game. Any suggestions, questions, or comments would be greatly appreciated!

I'm going to be working on it for the next couple of weeks, and hopefully get it done soon enough. May have my bro play some guitar for background music.
